FLÖDE & Artikel2 pilot project: Mapping textile flows for circular economy solutions

FLÖDE and Artikel2 partner to analyze the textile material flows at their location in Stockholm to hand on collect data and material to drive scalable upcycling. Discover how we work to improve and make the industry more sustainable.

FLÖDE and Artikel2 in a pilot project to study and map textile flows for sustainability

The Challenge

The textile industry’s linear "take-make-waste" model is unsustainable. To accelerate the shift toward circularity, FLÖDE and Artikel2 have launched a hands-on pilot project to map and analyze textile flows across supply chains.

Objectives
  1. Identify waste hotspots:
Pinpoint inefficiencies in how textile resources are managed, processed, and discarded.
  2. Optimize resource use:
Develop strategies to reduce waste and maximize the lifespan of existing materials.
  3. Drive innovation:
Turn insights into scalable upcycling solutions that align with circular economy principles.
  4. Methodology:
By partnering with experts in textile waste management, we’re identifying gaps in closed-loop systems and creating frameworks for sustainable supply chains.
  5. On-site data collection:
Tracking textile movement from production to disposal.
  6. Material handling analysis:
Observing practices in sorting, recycling, and reuse.
  7. Expert collaboration:
Partnering with local stakeholders to co-create actionable strategies.

This initiative isn’t just about data - it’s about actionable change and being able to do the work in the correct way.
By understanding how these textiles flow through the system, what materials do we see, their conditions and much more. We are working with the last step in the waste hierarchy the so called textile export,

  1. Unlock economic value in "discarded" materials driving our mission nomorenew.
  2. Empower brands to adopt circular business models working with existing materials.

What’s Next? The findings from our work will always continue and shape FLÖDE and our scalable upcycling processes.

Stay tuned for detailed reports and case studies—this is just the beginning of a transformative partnership. Read more of Artilel 2's work in textile sustainability here.
